Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza

The Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza is a grand event set along the coasts of Stranglethorn Vale. Early in the day, friendly neighborhood goblins will visit Ironforge and Orgrimmar to inform aspiring anglers of the grand tournament and give instructions. At the appropriate time, the shout will ring out across Stranglethorn to bait your hooks and cast your lines!

When It Happens

Currently, this event is held every Sunday from 2pm-4pm (server time).

What You Do

1. Get all your best fishing gear together (including lures if you want).
2. Get to a coastal area in Stranglethorn Vale. Anywhere EXCEPT Booty Bay.
3. When the event starts, travel up and down the coast, looking for churning circles of fish (your tooltip will say "School of Tastyfish" if it's the right place).
4. Cast away! Be sure your bobber lands INSIDE the school, or you won't catch Tastyfish (which is what you want to do, by the way).
5. Once a certain number of Tastyfish have been caught from a school (3 or 4), the school will scatter and you'll need to find another.
6. Try to catch 40 Tastyfish before anyone else does, and get to Booty Bay to turn them in.

Notes:

• If there's an announcement when someone wins the contest, it's very difficult to notice when your eyes are locked on your bobber. But if you're at it for more than 25 minutes (Normal Realm) or 35 minutes (PvP Realm), someone else has probably already won.
• You have to be fishing level 225 if you want to win the competition. If you are not, someone else will win it before you. And if you have less than 225 you may not catch the rare fish. Also, have a level of 35+ to keep from aggroing the nearby animals.
• Even if you lose, you can sell your Tastyfish to an NPC in Booty Bay for 23s for every 5 you catch.
• Tastyfish only last for 4 hours, so don't bother trying to save them.
• There are rare fish you can also catch in the Tastyfish schools, which you can turn in for special rewards.

For being the first person to turn in 40 Tastyfish at Riggle Bassbait

• Arcanite Fishing Pole (increases fishing skill by 35).
• Hook of the Master Angler (turns you into a fish).

Catch Rare Fish

Rare fish can only be caught in Tastyfish schools.

• Catch a Keefer's Angelfish:  Lucky Fishing Hat (increases fishing skill by 5).
• Catch a Brownell's Blue Striped Racer:  Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots (increases fishing skill by 5).
• Catch a Dezian Queenfish:  High Test Eternium Fishing Line (enchants 5 fishing skill to pole).
