Sunwell

The Sunwell was a fount of mystical power located in the Sunwell Grove in Quel'Thalas. It was the essence of the lives of the high elves, the source of the magic that was as much a part of them as breathing or eating<ref name="Sunwell Trilogy">The Sunwell Trilogy</ref> and from which the elves drew their immortal powers.<ref>The Fall of Silvermoon (WC3 Undead)</ref>

The Sunwell was destroyed during the Scourge invasion of Quel'Thalas, when Prince Arthas Menethil invaded the kingdom, slew most of its population, and used the Sunwell to resurrect Kel'Thuzad as a lich. This ritual tainted the Sunwell's energies, and the Sunwell then exploded after Dar'Khan Drathir attempted to bind it when something went terribly wrong, leaving a crater in its place and ravaging what little remained untouched by the Scourge.<ref name="Sunwell Trilogy" />

The Sunwell's remaining power manifested itself as Anveena Teague, who was put under elven protection by Lor'themar Theron. Anveena's identity as the avatar of the Sunwell's power was kept a closely guarded secret, known to only Lor'themar and his people.<ref name="Sunwell Trilogy" />
