Corthan mentions rebels going up north of the now Badlands and implies they have gone back into a tribal state - thus being the first step towards the Empire of Arathor."</ref> Corthan was not his true name; Corthanian custom mandated that all Marauder Kings had to eponymously re-christen themselves as Corthan upon becoming ruler.

History

At some point during his reign, Corthan entered into a betrothal with the daughter of the Keeper of Zeth (the main religion of Corthan), Zetharia. At the day of their marriage, Corthan arrived with his commoner mistress, enraging Zetharia.

Zetharia, overcome with anger at Corthan's unfaithfulness, brokered a deal with the Lord of Everlasting Death, and conjured a powerful curse that trapped the kingdom and its inhabitants - including Corthan himself - in an existence of eternal undeath.
