Quel'Thalas, "Noble Home" or "Noble Land" in Thalassian, is an area composed of two peninsulas located northwest of Lordaeron. Beyond Quel'Thalas is the Island of Quel'danas, where the most powerful magical source of Azeroth, the Sunwell, was once located.
It is bordered to the south by the Eastern Plaguelands and slightly to the southwest by the Thalassian Highlands.
Originally the home of the High Elves, the region of Quel'Thalas served as a magical and safe place for the Highborne exiles.
But, after the attack and destruction of Silvermoon and the murder of 90% of the High Elf population, Quel'Thalas was left in ruins, seeking to rebuild it, Kael'thas gathered all the High Elves he could and baptized them Blood Elves in honor of the fallen, however, he left for Outland with a regiment of Blood Elves, promising to find a cure for the addiction that affected his people, but he never returned.
The High Elves who remained, feeling abandoned, and after having heard worrying news of the alliances and methods of Kael'thas and his men, decided to take the majority of High Elves who had remained in the region and its surroundings, marching in caravans towards the south and leaving the region in the hands of the plague to this day.
Mysteries of Azeroth
7 years have passed since the destruction of Quel'Thalas by the plague, no one knows what things have happened in the region, the High Elves have settled in an outpost that has prospered over time towards a capital city.
No one has ventured beyond the Greenwood Pass, dead trees have blocked the entrance...who knows what horrible things have happened in what was once the glorious and magical land of Quel'Thalas...
