Alah'Thalas (meaning Land of Light in Thalassian) is a high elven city situated on a peninsula near Quel'Thalas. It is the largest of the three major concentrations of high elves in Lordaeron and is one of the very last high elven settlements.

History

Roughly a century before the Third War, high elves of Quel'Thalas founded an outpost and empowered it by an arcane crystal infused with the energies of the Sunwell itself. World of Warcraft

The outpost was rediscovered after the Third War by the Silvermoon Remnants with information from Dalaran's archives. It was settled by Thalassian refugees and was called Alah'Thalas - the Land of Light in their language. Now elves of Alah'Thalas are looking for the help of volunteers from the Alliance in their mission to maintain the city and protect the remnants of their once great race.

Mysteries of Azeroth

Two years after being discovered, the former outpost now stands as an imposing city fueled by the arcane magic that characterizes the High Elves, with the Regency Council as the new government after deposing Vereesa Windrunner as its spokesperson. and in the absence of a known living member of House Sunstrider.

Architecture

Unlike Farstrider Lodges across Azeroth that have a kaldorei-like wooden architecture, Alah'Thalas is the only place outside Quel'Thalas that was built with traditional quel'dorei architecture. City structures use arcane magic to operate - with a central crystal as the main power source and smaller crystals to effectively channel the arcane energy from the nexus to the buildings' ley points.

• Golden Dawn Institute: Located at the entrance to the city, the Golden Dawn Institute is a floating building for refugees and travellers from afar.
• Citadel of the Sun: Lying over the shores of the highlands is the Citadel of the Sun, formerly the beating heart of Alah'Thalas. Now home to ambassadors of the Alliance, it formerly housed the new Magistry, the headquarters of the Rangers, and the seat of the Speaker.
• The Bazaar: Place of Alah'thalas where most commercial buildings are located.
• Wretched Ghetto: A place where the "Withered" are contained, they are High Elves who unfortunately gave in to their addiction to magic and are degenerating into monsters.
• Sunsworn Mansion: Sunsworn Manor is the mansion in which the nobles of House Sunsworn reside, whose leader wishes to claim the crown as King of Quel'thalas in the absence of Kael'thas Sunstrider.
• Windrunner Pier: The Port that connects the City of Alah'thalas with Darkshore is named in honor of the Windrunner Sisters, whose Ranger General, Sylvanas Windrunner, gave her life defending Quel'thalas from the scourge invasion.
• Regency Spire: The building where the Regency Council consisting of Vereesa Windrunner, Lor'themar Theron, Halduron Brightwing and Grand Magister Rommath resides.
