The air of Deadwind Pass is harsh and unforgiving. I remember the place before the Orcish invasion - lush and green, with a pleasant breeze passing from Grand Hamlet. Nothing of that remains, however. Only the destruction wrought by my master and his sins.
The Council of Six asked me for assistance in retrieving dangerous relics left behind during the chaos of Lothar's assault on Karazhan. I don't like to return to this place full of memories, good and bad. Reliving the past aches my heart, just as my aged body is aching at the strain of my journey. At least I have Vandol with me, although he isn't eager to return here either. Antonidas tasked him with safekeeping the artifacts I retrieve. While I could've done so too, I trust the archmage's judgement.
Tethered spirits roam the empty halls, some familiar, some unknown. I even faintly heard the voice of Castellan Moroes, yet I couldn't see him. His humor was a ray of sunshine during my rigid studies with the master. Hopefully his soul can find respite at some point in time.
The upper reaches were locked, but luckily I still have a key for them in my possession. The atmosphere is different, more hostile. I have to proceed with caution, lest I get surprised by horrors left behind.
Master's library is still mostly intact. I am astonished how it survived Karazhan's desolation. Should I ever get the time and a few fellow mages from the Kirin Tor with me, bringing his knowledge to Dalaran would be a valuable boon to the Council and its students.
I came across an enigmatic contraption lying between the hefty tomes. It's made from arcanite, enchanted with a powerful ward and in immaculate condition. There is no doubt in my mind that this was of importance for the master, my heart tells me so. Judging from its appearance, I'd say it is a sort of clasp for a gemstone.
I managed to collect a few more of Medivh's artifacts. This place is still cursed, and I have to make haste to exit it unharmed. Vandol awaits me outside in hiding, so we may return safely back to Dalaran. It is strange to travel with one of Master's close friends, after all that has happened. Still, we share each other's company, as I can relate to him, as much as he can relate to me.
Another being is close, a hostile one. For a second its presence felt identical to the master's, but that quickly changed - not that it would've been possible either way. An aura of a bygone time, is how I would describe it. Regardless, I will remain cautious on my way-
