Appearance and Personality

Tofvic is a physically imposing man in his mid 40s, sporting graying facial hair that was originally black, and a bald head. He stands at an average-tall human height of 182,5 cm (6'0" ft). His skin, kissed by sun and wind, bears a light tan. His small brown eyes, sharp and watchful, resemble those of a hawk. Thin, low eyebrows frame his gaze. His head is cleanly shaved, revealing a smooth scalp. His face resembles a shield coated in leather.

Tofvic is a pragmatic and disciplined man, shaped by years of hardship and moral conflict. His experiences have left him with a sharp sense of justice, tempered by a deep understanding of the complexities of good and evil. He is often quiet and reflective, preferring action over words. Despite his stern demeanor, Tofvic harbors a deep compassion for the innocent and will go to great lengths to protect them. He is willing to bend rules when the greater good demands it but remains firm in his convictions about the dangers of unchecked magic and corruption.

Background

Tofvic was born into a middle class family in the peaceful region of Hearthglen. His father was a respected treasurer. From an early age, he displayed a deep curiosity about the nature of existence and the forces that governed it. Often pondering the interplay of good and evil, he felt drawn to the divine teachings of the Light, which spoke of justice, compassion, and order. Seeking a greater understanding of these ideals, Tofvic left his home as a teenager to train as a cleric in The Old Monastery, which is now known as the Scarlet Monastery.

After the Second War, Tofvic sought to expand his role beyond the priesthood, embracing the desire to protect and defend. Driven by this conviction, he began rigorous training to become a paladin, blending his spiritual discipline with martial prowess. This transition marked a pivotal chapter in his journey.

A New Threat

Though the Alliance prevailed in the Second War, peace was fleeting. As the years passed, a new darkness emerged: the undead Scourge. The plague that swept through the land turned friends and family into enemies, reducing entire towns to lifeless husks. Tofvic, now a seasoned paladin in his 30s, joined the desperate efforts to combat the spreading corruption, wielding the Light to strike down countless undead and shield the innocent from harm.

Yet, even with the might of the Light, its limitations became increasingly apparent. His recent experiences on the battlefield left Tofvic questioning not the power of the Light itself, but the constraints of relying solely on it—especially in a world where threats grew ever larger and more relentless with each passing day.

A New Path

Seeking answers to bridge these gaps, Tofvic retreated into solitude. He traveled to the secluded mountains of Khaz Modan, where he immersed himself in texts from various disciplines. Through his study and reflection, Tofvic came to a profound realization: the forces of Light and Shadow, often depicted as opposing absolutes, might instead be facets of a greater truth. Each held strengths and weaknesses, and together they could offer a path to true balance and understanding.

Tofvic’s newfound philosophy reshaped his approach to justice and compassion. He remained devoted to ways of the Light and order but came to understand the Shadow as a tool to address what the Light could not. He understood that wielding Shadow came with risks. The temptation to delve deeper or use it carelessly could corrupt the unprepared. His training as a paladin, however, had instilled in him discipline and unwavering willpower, enabling him to walk this precarious path without faltering.

Tofvic’s transformation into a Discipline Priest marked his departure from the rigid structure of the paladin. He set aside his plate armor and embraced a new path that demanded constant vigilance and self-control. He trained himself to wield both Light and Shadow responsibly, using each force to counter the other and maintain equilibrium. However, his unorthodox philosophy was often deemed heretical by traditional clerics of the Light, leading him to distance himself from any formal order aligned with the Holy Light.

Keeper of the Talon

Tofvic eventually reunited with his wife, Ellennya Arkenbrine, a skilled herbalist from Lordaeron who had sought refuge in Menethil Harbor. Together, they moved south to Duskwood, a region steeped in darkness and plagued by malevolent forces. Drawing on his harrowing experiences during the plague of Lordaeron and his deep understanding of the corrupting nature of dark magic, Tofvic devoted himself to hunt the undead, cursed creatures, and practitioners of forbidden arts to purify the world with justice. He firmly believed that such dangerous knowledge should be wielded only by those with unwavering faith and a strict adherence to order. This unyielding pursuit of justice and purification earned him a reputation as a steadfast witch hunter.

During a mission to investigate a growing dark magic threat in a nearby village, Tofvic encountered a group of witch hunters known as the Hawk's Talon, a faction dedicated to eradicating chaotic forces that threaten the world. Together, they joined forces to track down the source of the dark magic. Their investigation led to a fateful clash with a powerful sorceress.

Recognizing the alignment of their goals and the strength of their resolve, Tofvic officially joined the Hawks' Talon. His membership marked a new chapter in his quest to combat the forces of darkness, this time as part of a more structured and disciplined order. He was entrusted with the role of Keeper, where he is responsible for the overall management and operation of the guild. He and Ellennya moved to Hawk's Vigil in Dun Agrath and currently lives there.

Enemies

Joseph Shadowbrine

Once Joseph Wenzel, Shadowbrine is a Forsaken warlock and leader of the Shadowspire Cult, a ruthless and secretive sect devoted to the worship of demons. The cult sees themselves as the chosen architects of a new age where demons reign supreme. Their rituals are dark and brutal, often involving blood sacrifices of newborn childs and the corruption of sacred grounds. A childhood bully and former classmate of Tofvic Arkenbrine, Joseph’s hunger for power led him to embrace the dark arts and corruption.

While investigating the cult's activities, Tofvic discovered their leader was Joseph himself. The confrontation between the two was inevitable. The ensuing battle was fierce, a clash of faith against corruption. Tofvic, despite his resolve, struggled against Shadowbrine’s cunning and his mastery of demonic pacts.

In the end, Tofvic prevailed, delivering a decisive blow to his former classmate. Seeing no path to redemption for a man so steeped in evil, he ended Joseph’s life. He left the warlock’s body to rot amidst the desecrated ruins of the cult’s sanctuary. However, Joseph’s story did not end there. His corpse was discovered by Forsaken scavengers and brought to Tirisfal Glades, where he was reanimated. The resurrection amplified his bitterness and hatred.

Zaraphina Duskwatch

Zaraphina was once Tofvic’s loyal companion and apprentice. Together, they fought to purge darkness and protect the innocent, their bond forged through shared struggles. Over time, however, the relentless battles took their toll. Zaraphina grew disillusioned, questioning whether the Light alone could ever bring victory against the ever-growing threats in a changing world. Her doubts only deepened as she witnessed Tofvic’s use of Shadow—a practice she struggled to accept.

After a devastating mission in Duskwood, Zaraphina departed under the pretense of seeking clarity. In truth, she turned to forbidden magic, desperate to find a solution to the world’s chaos. Her descent into fel magic transformed her into a ruthless warlock, convinced that power, not balance, was the key to saving their homeland. Zaraphina’s betrayal shattered Tofvic’s trust, leaving him to grapple with the painful loss of his apprentice—and the formidable new threat she had become.
