The Gilneas Brigade, commanded by an unidentified dwarven mountain king, is a detachment of troops within the Human Expedition that were led by Jaina Proudmoore to Kalimdor. In the mission it appears in, the Brigade is almost entirely made up of dwarven riflemen and mortar operators.<ref>Cry of the Warsong (WC3 Orc)</ref>
The Gilneas Brigade was formed by Crown Prince Liam Greymane, Lord Darius Ravenwood, and Lord Gerold of Gelnor, following King Genn Greymane's refusal to spare any men for Lady Proudmoore. While Lord Ravenwood readied a fleet in secret, Gerold assembled a force of stout Gelnorian dwarves and men to volunteer as the promised honor guard. Named the Gilneas Brigade by Prince Liam with full honors on the Gilnean shores, the plot to send troops to the Human Expedition was only discovered by King Genn long after the ships, soldiers and supplies were far past the horizon. Harsh punishment fell upon all the plotters, the Crown Prince included, but the warriors found their way into the service of Jaina Proudmoore regardless. While in service to Jaina the Gilneas Brigade would form an encampment and aid in guarding the passage into the Stonetalon Peaks. Some time later the encampment came under attack from Grommash Hellscream and the Warsong clan. In response the brigade struck back against the rest of the Horde.
