The Thunderlord clan is an orcish clan that has strong ties to both the Blackrock and Lightning's Blade clans. Orgrim Doomhammer, former Warchief of the Horde in Azeroth, rose to power through the Thunderlord clan.<ref>Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal manual, Clans of Draenor, Thunderlord Clan</ref>

History

Shortly after the Bleeding Hollow clan's return to Draenor, Ner'zhul sent Dentarg to influence warriors from the Thunderlord clan to join in the battle against the Bonechewer clan, who possessed the Skull of Gul'dan. The Slayer of the Shadowmoon clan was sent to help rally the Thunderlords and destroy the Bonechewers with the aid of the Shattered Hand.<ref>The Skull of Gul'dan (WC2 Orc)</ref> Shortly afterwards, Ner'zhul was met with opposition to his plans from both Fenris and Bonechewer chieftain Tagar Spinebreaker, as they desired to journey to Azeroth and have their clans triumph where Orgrim Doomhammer had failed. This was not a vision that was shared by Ner'zhul, who ordered that their clans be culled as an example to ensure that none would dare to interfere with his dark schemes.<ref>Thunderlord and Bonechewer (WC2 Orc)</ref>

Despite the destruction wrought upon the clan, the Thunderlords remained part of the Horde of Draenor's forces during the Alliance Expedition's later foray into Draenor, clashing with them at the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands<ref>Once More Unto the Breach (WC2 Human)</ref> and after the expedition fortified their position at Vanguard in Hellfire Peninsula.<ref>Upon the Shadowed Seas (WC2 Human)</ref> Thunderlord forces occupied a stronghold that guarded the shores of the Skeletal Coast and Fortress Shadowmoon<ref>Coast of Bones (WC2 Human)</ref> and were additionally present during the siege of Vanguard.<ref>Siege of Vanguard (WC2 Human)</ref> When the Laughing Skull clan made a pact with the Alliance in exchange for the Book of Medivh, a Thunderlord stronghold in the passes of the Blade's Edge Mountains was destroyed, ensuring that the Laughing Skull could gain dominance over the northern clans of Draenor.<ref>Dance of the Laughing Skull (WC2 Human)</ref>
